#17Should an "Adapter Kit Last Forever" or be replaced from time to time?

No!  Adapters do not last forever, they wear out just like everything else mechanical. Some wear out faster than others and need to be replaced more frequently.

If you have a standard TT-0140-A Adapter, you have one that will last a long, long time, but if you have a TT-0814-A Double Jam Nut, you have one that will require replacing from time to time.  It is easy to see that the Jamming Affect will cause wear on the end of the Jam Nut and sooner or later, it will wear down till it is not doing the job of locking on the threads.

If the adapter becomes worn enough to cause problems, it can cause damage to your engine shaft.  Visual checking and good judgment will tell you what you need to do. The price of a new adapter is certainly nothing to exchange for Safety.
